The rules are a little less rigid, since these beers are not scanned in a department store… Everyone who takes a draft already knows our brand, and these beers are produced in very small quantities, so the risks are less. For our 4th anniversary, we decided to launch 4 different 440ml beers, sold together. and designs. Several copies of Black Hops beers Design by Dave Heavyside of Maake We chose four 440ml black cans for two dark beers and two amber beers. Or, above from left to right Murder Hornet, Vermonster, Zappy Birthday and Birthday Cake Stout.
We again called on Dave Heavyside from photo retouching service Maake to create these cans and we obviously took a lot of liberties with the designs. We included a small version of our chevrons to represent our brand, but we were confident that those buying them would already be familiar with our brand, so there was no need to put our full logo on. I especially like the ripples that are on top of the cans. I find it softens the transition between the black of the can and the bright colors of the designs. Thanks to this, it feels less like labels, while really differentiating our beers from others. We went for a very minimalist style, to which Dave added some fun elements. Zappy Birthday's design features a barely visible Frank Zappa watermark, and Murder Hornet's design is something of a true masterpiece.
The Black Hops Murder Hornet beer logo We wanted to make a splash with these beers and we succeeded. Our website exploded upon launch and a long queue formed outside our brewery… Here are some other fun designs we've made Get Railed — beer from a bearded colleague named Railo The Black Hops Get Railed beer logo HQ — Ali's beer (an old timer from Black Hops) as a tribute to our team and our customers Black Hops headquarters illustration Guns and Gose's — Kearney's crew beer (possibly we'll be sued for that one) Black Hops Guns N' Gose's beer design Black Market Schwarz — a funny collab Black Market Schwarz beer design by Black Hops Even more examples of beers to inspire you — that I like or other breweries, just for fun and to give you something to inspire you.
